Working on a short timeline with two design directors, our team's goal was to redesign the power outage reporting flow for Oncor, an electricity provider in central Texas.

We redesigned two key tasks of the power outage reporting flow:

1) The user reports an outage and gets confirmation from the system

2) Upon successful reporting, the user views an approximate timetable for when their power will return

The current-state experience was riddled with inconsistent language and confusing design patterns, leading users to question if they've even reported their power outage properly.

Analyzing the current sitemap of Oncor as well as the outage reporting flow brought those inconsistencies to light.
